Frequently asked scan questions
Question: When trying to start the scan program, I get one of the following error messages:
- Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 is required ...
- The Application failed to intialize properly (0xc0000135)
- Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application
- Cannot find a required DLL file, MSCOREE.DLL
Answer: In that case you should download and install the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0.
Question: I get the message 'Cannot start the application' or 'Startup failed'.
Answer: In this case the ScanCircle application may have been installed erroneously on your computer and can be removed using the Control Panel. Or you can run the following command to clear the so-called ClickOnce cache (Windows key + R, no output shown): rundll32 %windir%\system32\dfshim.dll,CleanOnlineAppCache
Question: At the start of the scan program a 'Microsoft .NET Security Warning' balloon is shown.
Answer: Download the scan program (in Internet Explorer/Edge, use the alternative scan option), save it to disk first and then run/open it.
Question: The scan program is interrupted/cancelled.
Answer: Some anti-virus/spyware programs check the reputation/prevalence of downloaded programs. When a new version of the scan program has just been released, this check may fail and the scan program is interrupted or canceled. If possible tell you anti-virus/spyware programma that it is okay to continue the scan program or indicate that it may be started normally next time. Alternatively you can download the scan program (in Internet Explorer/Edge, use the alternative scan option), save it to disk first and then run/open it.
Question: Why do I get a firewall warning?
Answer: The scan program needs access to the Internet to upload the scan data. If this fails, you can save the scan file locally (e.g. on the desktop) and do a manual upload of the scan file on the web site.
Question: I get another error message or have question about the scan program.
